Who can claim?
A family member, i.e. the wife, husband, parent (includes father, mother, grandfather and grandmother), child (includes son, daughter, grandson, granddaughter, stepson and stepdaughter) and any person with disabilities under the care of the deceased

In this digital era, erroneous information jeopardising the reputation of a person or an organisation is known as defamation. It may lead to an award of significant monetary damages, as such damage to reputation can be permanent and irreversible.  

The Evidence Act 1950 provides for the opinion of expert witnesses in legal proceedings. Section 45 defines the situations in which expert opinion evidence is admissible, i.e. if the court needs to form an opinion upon a point of foreign law or of science or art, or as to identity or genuineness of handwriting or finger impressions.
